Study Abroad and Field Schools

The Anthropology undergraduate advisor Ania Peczalska highly recommends undergraduate students to study abroad, do a field school, or even do both during their undergraduate careers. You as an Anthropology major or minor can either go through field schools and/or spend a summer, a semester, or an academic year abroad. It is recommended that Anthropology majors go through IUB field study programs offered in the Anthropology department. If students want more options non-IUB field schools can be found at Shovel Bums. If you are considering studying abroad you are recommended to make an advising appointment with Ania or email her at apeczals@umail.iu.edu with questions. In the meantime you can look at IUB’s Overseas Study website to learn more about study abroad options and places you can study. Students interested in international non-IU field schools should also go to http://www.indiana.edu/~overseas/apply/noniu/index.shtml to learn more about transferring field school as IUB credit. If you have questions about financial aid the Overseas Study website also has a web page that describes financial aid that can be used in study abroad.
