The Hutton Honors College is among the units co-sponsoring an essay and arts competition organized by the Office for Women’s Affairs as part of the OWA’s 40th anniversary celebration. We would be grateful if you would encourage the students in your classes, whether or not they are in the HHC, to consider entering their work on the theme

Essay & Art Contest

From access to education to the empowerment found in education, women’s history is inextricably linked to the education of women. In collaboration with the National Women’s History Project and in an effort to facilitate understanding and appreciation of the contributions women of all racial, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds have made to history, the Office for Women’s Affairs encourages reflection on the theme: “Women’s Education, Women’s Empowerment” and invites IU students and staff, men and women, to address, through essays or other arts, topics pertaining to the education movements in the world and to the way access to education as well as trends in education have shaped women’s history.
